I love fashion that reflects…me! The Black is Beautiful tee by Bon Bon Vie is so cute, and packs a major statement. The woman’s face is gorgeous, and the afro/halo has such an ethereal feel to it. Click here to buy!

3 piece online is an online boutique based in Atlanta, GA. The owner of 3 piece online, Jacquelyn Roberts, uses hip hop, and African American community culture to create whimsical pieces to inspire living spaces. I immediately fell in love with her throw pillows, because you know I love hip hop! Jacquelyn’s designs are very eco-friendly, she uses old tees and jeans to create throw pillows. Check out some of her designs! Go to http://www.3pieceonline.com/shop to see more.
Jacquelyn was kind enough to share the inspiration behind some of her pieces:
“Craftwork 101: The Barber Tumbled Marble Coaster features original digital artwork by Jacquelyn Roberts capturing the crafts that sustain our communities. This is the first in a series mostly because I go to the Barber every Saturday
.”

“Graffiti and Jeans Throw Pillow was the first I created because I received a t-shirt from local graffiti artist Michael Mauldin and wanted to preserve it. This pillow is also backed with upcycled worn-in blue jeans.”

“Love No. 1 Tumbled Marble Coaster features original digital artwork by Jacquelyn Roberts capturing Love in our communities. This is also the first in the series and it shows the joy that exists in mature love.”

“My Beat Goes Boom Throw Pillow features an old worn in cotton green t-shirt handpainted with reflecting boom boxes and backed with upcycled worn-in blue jeans.”

I’m a sucker for album art and music posters, so when I saw these prints on Fly’s blog by Emek , the artist behind many of Erykah Badu’s album covers and concert posters, I was immediately captivated by the imagery in his pieces. The symbolism in the LSD/psychadelic/60s-inspired style really speaks to what we know and love about Erykah Badu – earthiness, femininity, higher consciousness, coupled with an intrinsic sense of militance.
New Amerykah Part II should be coming soon, I can’t wait!

I love to see real b-girls doing their thing. Check out these hip hop inspired art prints by Amanda Diva – emcee, accomplished television/radio host, and visual artist.

Kanye wrote a picture book. From the description on BPM Magazine, it seems like it would make a great coffee table book or bathroom literature.
The book is titled “Glow In The Dark” and it presents the insight with the production of his “Glow In The Dark” tour. The book is 288 pages long and shows on stage performances, behind-the-scenes shots, conceptual sketches by West, costume designs, and stage models. It also includes an audio CD featuring the previously unreleased live instrumentals for “Hey Mama”, “Touch the Sky”, “Jesus Walks”, and “I Wonder”, as well as an interview with video and film director Spike Jonze.

I would rather read a memoir from ‘Ye, the picture book is meh.
My jewelry box consists of a plastic, shoebox sized container with a mishmash of necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. This is trifling, as I have had to deal with damaged/broken jewelry more than I care to share. It would be much better to have a home for my jewelry that is pretty and makes everything easier to find. Something like this:

I want to do better, ya’ll. How do you store jewelry? Are you like me and just toss it in a clear box, or do you take the care to use a jewelry holder?

Visiting the Hip Hop DX blog today, Aliya Ewing posted this dope ass art project by a Graphic Designer named Logan Walters called “The Wu Note Project.” He took all the Wutang Clan album covers, and remixed them and put them into a set. Shit is dope. I would rock this on my wall.
Walters says:
The cleverest thing the Wu-Tang Clan ever did was negotiate separate contracts for everybody, but since these came out on so many different labels the cover art varies drastically. The “Wu-Note Project” is my attempt to amend this all the covers work as a set.
I would say Walters’s intention was well executed. He notes in an earlier post that his inspiration was the Blue Note Records album covers. I’m digging the fusion of art, jazz, and hip hop manifesting itself in the realm of digital media.
